A band of traditional instruments including gaita (bagpipes), wooden flutes and hurdy-gurdy, and more contemporary instruments like fiddle, guitar, accordion plays dance tunes and love songs, ritual music, village celebrations and lullabies. Based in Madrid and together for twenty years, La Musgaña ("the water rat") still features original members Jaime Muñoz and Carlos Beceiro, with newer members Jorge Arribas on accordion and Diego Galáz on violin.

Tracks and samples:
"La Musgaña's folk music of Spain is as old as the troubadors and as young as the electric guitar…fruited with exquisite melodies, freighted with melancholy and frenzied with irresistible rhythms." - Kevin R. Convey, Boston Herald "A real thrill of discovery... You can hear not only Spain, but much of the Mediterranean and North Africa in the melodies and especially the rhythms, that percolate beautifully." - SingOut Magazine "Radical new interpretations of traditional music sounding nearly ancient" - Global Rhythm Magazine

Please note!
Most CDs have been
imported from Europe or Asia.
They are not all
shrink-wrapped, and I am not
going to con you by wrapping them
here just to make you think they
have been sterilized in America.
We guarantee that the CDs and the
contents are all brand new and in
perfect condition. Whenever I
can, I use recycled shipping
materials. They may not look as
pretty on the outside, but they save
money and keep the trash dumps a
little bit emptier.
