cd cover Svestar
Old Danish folk Songs and Ballads (Go' Danish Folk)
cdRoots Code: go-1113

This trio of Danish musicians will grab your attention and your heart in the first few bars. Really, try it. Svestar is Anne Roed Refshauge, vocals; Marie Sønderby, piano; and Kirstine Sand, fiddle. They play old Danish folk songs and ballads (viser) along with their own new material, about love and - more often the case - unrequited love. All three musicians studied at the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Denmark and have backgrounds in both classical and traditional music. The mix of backgrounds gives a new and exciting angle to the old folk songs. Svestar is an old Nordic word for "Sister." Guest musicians: Torben Sminge on flugelhorn; Kirstine Elise Pedersen on cello.

Please note!
Most CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. We guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.
