Please note!
Most of our CDs have been imported from Europe or Asia. They are not all shrink-wrapped, and I am not going to con you by wrapping them here just to make you think they have been sterilized in America. I guarantee that the CDs and the contents are all brand new and in perfect condition. Whenever I can, I use recycled shipping materials. They may not look as pretty on the outside, but they save money and keep the trash dumps a little bit emptier.

Mats and a fiddle

The Music of Mats Edén

Mats Edén (composer) - Apple Blossom
An album that focuses on Mats Edén as composer, with 16 performances of his pieces played by a variety of artists in a number of syles from folk to classical to contemporary art music.

Crane Dance Trio (Eden, Perez, Simonson) - flyger igen
Mats Eden (violin, strings), Jonas Simonson (flutes) and Mattias Perez (guitar) join forces for a set of original compositions by all of the players, plus two traditional songs.

Mats Edén - Pastern
Mats' solo album of fiddle and diatonic accordion tunes, both newly composed and traditional from sweden and Norway. Seth Premo writes in RootsWorld: 'an exhibition of his fiddle playing and interpretation style in a traditional context, and though it is not unsentimental, it has a consistently strong energy about it.'

Gubbaduon - Quintonius
Mats Edén (fiddle, accordion) and Sven Ljungberg (accordion) with Leo Sander on bass, performing songs learned from Mangskog musician Oskar Andersson.

Mats Edén, Daniel Sanden-Warg, Leif Stinnerbom, Magnus Stinnerbom - Anno 2010
An award winning album of folk fiddling from Sweden by a quartet of masters. Andrew Cronshaw wrote in his fRoots review: 'For some they play all together, for some they split into duos, trio or solo, on fiddles, the sympathetic-stringed viola d'amore and violin d'amore whose incorporation into Swedish folk music have stemmed largely from the work of these musicians, or adding in moraharpa, diatonic accordion and harmonica. No bass instruments, just the dense textures of all those harmonising and droning bowed strings and wheezing reeds, and massive drive.'

Mats Eden - Avtryck
Swedish melodeon and violin music learned from Oscar Andersson and Alfred Magnusson, both from Mangskog, in Varmland Sweden.

Groupa - Silent Folk
Groupa plays its own brand of Nordic music. Giving the music freer rein and new colours, Groupa excels in the joy of expanding to new musical dimensions. The original band was founded in 1980, and has along with other groups been a vanguard of the progressive folk music scene in Sweden since the 80’s. Ever since the start, Groupa has been a very popular live band. Mats Edén on fiddles; Jonas Simonson on flutes and Terje Isungset on percussion.

Mats Edén + Tina Quartey - Vagen in (The Way In)
Vägen in presents fiddler Mats Edén and percussionist Tina Quartey in a stunning duet debut. Mats' life-long Värmland traditions and his new interest in neighboring Norwegian melodies is a remarkably intuitive fit for Tina's explorations in Afro-Cuban and Brazilian percussion. With their backgrounds in groundbreaking ensembles like Frifot, Groupa and Filarfolket, it is no surprise that what they deliver is innovative music, challenging and yet deeply rooted in tradition.

Mats Edén - Milvus
The ECM release by violinist Eden, with Jonas Simonson (flutes) and the Cikada String Quartet offers a different aspect of this brilliant Swedish composer and musician.

Mats Edén - Struling
The great Varmland fiddler's first solo recording. It features lots of great solo fiddling from Eden (and a bit of accordion, too), plus ensemble work with a then-as-now all-star cast of musicians: Tina Johansson, Ellika Frisell, Rickard Astrom and Stefan Ekedahl offering percussion, violin, piano and cello. The music runs from strict traditional Swedish tunes to a tribute to Gambian musician Alagi M'Bye. This was cutting edge when it was made, and it is still unique and powerful music all these years later.
